For Companies

Each plantation that you source products from in the tropics was almost certainly once forest. The Forest Conservation Fund offers you an easy way to inset your company’s forest footprint by protecting an equivalent sized area of forest for a year in an area that may otherwise have been converted.

We recommend you do this on one of two ways:

  • Cover your commodities’ forest footprints. If your company purchases commodities, you can easily work out how many hectares of land is requires to produce the commodities you use in a year. Perhaps you are the CEO of a coffee house and purchase 45,000 tonnes of coffee beans per year. This volume requires 9,495 hectares per year (at average yield rates). Why not inset this by supporting the conservation of 9,495 hectares of tropical forest? To work out your company’s forest footprint, download your commodity calculator below.

  • Cover your employees’ forest footprints using an average of three hectares per person; multiplying your number of staff by three gives you the number of hectares you should protect. Forest can be protected for 40 USD per hectare per year. So if you have 200 staff, you could protect 600 hectares for one year for 24,000 USD.

The minimum-sized parcel of forest we look to protect is 500 hectares, so we recommend a minimum donation of 20,000 USD (at 40 USD per hectare).
