give the gift of rainforest protection

Tropical rainforests are amazing - they are home to more than half of our land-based biodiversity, and pull millions of tonnes of carbon out of the air every year. They stop erosion by fixing soil and slowing down rainwater, and provide food, clean water, medicine, and fuelwood to hundreds of million people. Unfortunately, they are quickly disappearing due to lack of funding and legal protection.

The Forest Conservation Fund makes it easy to conserve these precious resources, by linking foreign donors with communities living in rainforests who need support to protect them. A donation of US$40 will protect a hectare (2.5 acres) of forest for a year, ensuring that communities have sufficient funds to patrol the forest and monitor biodiversity, as well as to invest in education and development of sustainable forest-friendly businesses.

Adopting a hectare of tropical rainforest is the perfect gift for friends, family, and colleagues who care deeply about our natural world, or for honouring the loss of a loved one. We provide a certificate attesting to the hectares protected through the donation, and a letter for tax deduction purposes.

adopt a hectare of TANOE-EHY FOREST in THE IVORY COAST

Eleven villages in south-eastern Ivory Coast collectively protect over 10,000 hectares of rainforest, home to three critically endangered primate species. The forest is under threat from illegal logging and poaching as well as gold mining and conversion to oil palm plantations. Your donation will go to fund ranger patrols, biodiversity monitoring, and investments in agroforestry and sustainable agriculture in the villages managing the forest. 80% of the donation goes to the projects, and 20% stays with the FCF, a non-profit foundation, which uses satellite monitoring to make sure the forest stays standing and helps projects with biodiversity monitoring and fundraising.
